Anderson - Barbara J. (Jackson) Schafer, 76, Anderson, died July 23, 2010 at her residence after a brief illness.

She was born September 12, 1933 and resided in Anderson. She lived most of her life in Anderson and was a graduate of Anderson High School. Barbara received her Bachelors Degree from Purdue University and Masters Degree from Ball State University. She was a retired Speech Pathologist from Anderson Community Schools.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, 20th Century, Pi Beth Phi Alum Club, several Bridge clubs, Meadowbrook Manor Board member, Madison County Literacy Association Board member and teacher MENTA.

She is survived by her children; Elizabeth (Mark) Kaminski of Kentucky, W. Thomas (Ewa) Schafer of Georgia, Karen (Bruce) Bailey of Tennessee, John J.(fiance', Amanda) Schafer of Colorado and Amy (Steven) Crell of Fishers. Brothers; James R. (Judy) Jackson and Stephen T. (Janene) Jackson both of Anderson. Sister and brother-in-law; Marilyn and Robert Smitson of Muncie. Grandchildren; Katie, Lisa, Ellen, Alex, Laura, David, Brian, Caleb, Julie, Greg, Jacob, Hannah and Emma. Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband whom she married in 1955 William K. Schafer. Parents; J. Robert and Edna (Tilbury) Jackson. Father-in-law; Harold E. Schafer and mother-in-law; Helen H. Schafer.

Visitation will be from 12:30-2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 2:30 P.M., at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana, with grandson David Bailey officiating.

Private Scattering of Ashes will be at East Maplewood Cemetery.
